Researching and action to ensure our streams resilience, environmental, and ecological health as well as biodiversity is important to us. Accessing head water in forest and ways to use water for garden irrigation are potential needs. We are looking for volunteers to help with our creek and stream.
Do you have skills in design ans construction? Interested in learning? Interesting in building? Potential eco-friendly construction may include a cabin for workaway folks, a tiny house or small cottage or pole barn construction, a greenhouse, a garden shed and a wood frame pavilion with a stone fireplace. We plan to build structures as time, interest, budget and resources allow. Emphasis in solar and compostable toilet are being investigated.
Would you like to help us with planning, planting and design. We are looking for volunteer help for seasonal tasks, soil preparation, planting, harvesting, caring for cut flowers, using cut flowers for arrangements and community offerings. Our Free Little Flower Stand in Ashevillle NC is an example of our community outreach and gesture of kindness and support.
Areas of work including: helping with greenhouse construction or assembly, starting seeds, maintaining inventory, charting growth and conditions, watering and pruning plants, harvesting or transplant crops, maintaining healthy plants, planting and the design of terrariums,cleaning and organizing supplies, tools and the greenhouse structure
Interested in urban gardening near downtown Asheville in historic Grove Park neighborhood instead of country life for a bit. Work away accommodations available with yardwork, garden kitchen tasks and English cut flower garden caretaking are possibilities. Be a part of our Free Flowers Asheville neighborhood project arranging flowers from the English cutting garden. This experience can be in combination with farm time, a 30 minute drive north of Ashevil
